Police had been investigating a reported sexual assault

Niagara Regional Police have charged a woman with public mischief after investigating a report of sexual assault earlier this month.

On April 5, around 1:20 a.m., police responded to a report in the area of Glendale Avenue and Kerr Street in St. Catharines.

After a detailed investigation, detectives determined the allegation was unfounded and had been fabricated.

On April 22, 54-year-old Jacqueline Olsen of St. Catharines was arrested and charged with public mischief.

She was released with a future court date.
