NOTL volunteer fire department given national recognition

Volunteer service won award typically given to major urban services

Niagara-on-the-Lake’s Fire & Emergency Services has made history as the first volunteer fire department in Canada to earn a Certificate of Achievement from the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

The recognition, awarded under CPSE’s Community Risk Assessment / Standards of Cover program, highlights the department’s use of data-driven strategies to evaluate risks and improve emergency response.

The same program recognizes major urban departments in cities like Toronto and Ottawa, marking a significant milestone for Niagara-on-the-Lake’s volunteer team.
