Annual event helps dress kids for prom for free
For many students across the Niagara Region, prom season is fast approaching - and that special outfit is needed.
The problem however - those outfits can often cost a lot of money, not something that every family can afford.
The Education Foundation of Niagara is looking to change that for students and families with their annual Prom Project, which collects formal wear for students to don on their big night.
Coordinator Kaitlin Wharton says clothing can be donated for the next few weeks.
Wharton adds that clothing that's currently in demand are suits and men's formal shoes.
The donations are then collected, and an event is held on May 10th where they can choose their look for prom night. She says the best part is - there's no financial stress on families.
Wharton says the best part about the event is seeing everyone's reactions to their new outfit.
Prom Project is being held Saturday, May 10th at the St. Catharines Collegiate gym, while clothing can be dropped off at the following locations:
-Pen Financial Fourth Avenue Branch (St. Catharines)
-Pen Financial Morrison Branch (Niagara Falls)
-Pen Financial Highway 20 Branch (Fonthill)
-Pen Financial Garrison Branch (Fort Erie)
-Education Foundation of Niagara Office (130 Louth Street, St. Catharines)
