What's Good in Niagara? Deputy Chief Lagrotteria excited for new role

Deputy Chief Lagrotteria has served with NRPS since 2006, and is from St. Catharines

Niagara Regional Police's new Deputy Chief of Police wants to help keep the region safe and engaged, because to him it's home.

Earlier this month, Mario Lagrotteria was named to his new Deputy Chief role after 19 years with Niagara Regional Police Service, a tenure that's seen him serve everywhere from uniform patron to detective to superintendent.

He says policing in the area he's from is a bonus.

Outside of policing, he volunteers as the Vice-Chair of Victim Services Niagara, and Board Member with Community Care St. Catharines and Thorold.

Lagrotteria says being involved in the community, both outside of policing and through it, is important to him.

As Deputy Chief of Police, Lagrotteria will be working closely with Chief of Police Bill Fordy.

Lagrotteria says this is an amazing learning opportunity for him.

An Introduction Ceremony for Deputy Chief of Police Lagrotteria will take place at a date and time to be announced.
