Patterson was one of 29 recipients in St. Catharines this week
As King Charles III Coronation medals are handed out across Canada - one recipient in St. Catharines has used the recognition as a way to reflect.
Dan Patterson, the former President of Niagara College for over two decades, was one of the recipients earlier this week.
He says it's important to celebrate others in the community that are doing their best to make it a better place.
Patterson says that even though his time as President of Niagara College is over, he doesn't plan on stopping when it comes to learning in his everyday life.
The award ceremony for St. Catharines was held Tuesday at Brock University, where 29 individuals from St. Catharines and the surrounding area were recognized for their contributions.
Awards were also handed out in other parts of the Niagara Region.
